The electorate of North Huxton has been held by hard drinking Labor stalwart Bob MacCallun for thirteen years. However, with a change in electoral boundaries and some bitter in-fighting in the Labor camp, the Libs think they might at last have a chance.

EXTRACT: It's do or die now. You open your mouth battling the huge tidal wave of drunkenness that is crashing over your skull. Words come out. The simplest words you can muster: "same again please." You wait as she considers your alcoholic wretchedness. Lives hang in the balance. She shakes her head. You've lost. You can't physically utter any more words. All the words are gone..When you work in a bar, it's very hard to have confidence in the whole human race. I work in a bar. I don't want to be here forever. I don't really care about politics.

EXTRACT: You'll never catch us trying to pretend we like Rooty Hill. Or spouting tired platitudes about the "workers". Above all, it's patronising. Whatever else you can say about us - we may be cold, indifferent at times- we're never patronising. We're the party of enterprise, initiative and capitalism. You can't tell me capitalism doesn't work. Even the Labor Party knows it works. And we give much better capitalism than they do. We give great capitalism. I'm a Liberal. How could I be anything else?

EXTRACT: I've always been lucky. Let's face it, I've freeloaded every step of the way. I joined the Party at Uni only because the quality of girls were better than the Liberals. So having joined for all the wrong reasons I found I enjoyed it immensely. For sheer bastardry no one can touch the Labor Party. And what bastardry it is! Glorious, wonderful bastardry! Cunning, inventive bastardry! Bastardry alive to the possibility of even more bastardry!
