Stella Devries and Gerald FitzGibbon are both in Mr Arblaster’s Year 5 class. Gerald hangs out with his best mate Gino Benutti and a few other boys. He thinks he’s pretty ace… a bit of a footy legend… a bit of a tough guy. Stella’s a smart kid, she’s got a good sense of what’s right and wrong and she knows how to stand up for herself. She likes to get together with her friend Rosalie Blair and a few other girls for a good goss outside the toilet block. One day, Gino Benutti turns up and tells Stella that Gerald wants to see her behind the shelter shed. What happens next surprises them both!
Gerald FitzGibbon Tried to Kiss Me is a short performance in rhyme that asks us to think about personal responsibility, what happens when we make assumptions about the way other people feel, how we respond to unacceptable behaviour, and how we respect each other’s personal space.
