Neil Cole is a playwright with twenty years experience having written and produced twenty five plays. One of these won the Griffin Theatre Award in 1999 and was Short Listed for the Premiers Literary Award in Victoria in 2001. Many of his plays have has readings in New York and one was produced in Chicago. Neil is a Director of the Melbourne Jewish Theatre Trust and has established the "Melbourne Playwrights School" which conducts seminars on playwrighting.
Neil is Assoc. Prof. at the University of Melbourne working in the area of creativity and mental illness predominately with people who have schizophrenia. Neil is the Patron of Prahran Mission dealing with people with psychiatric disability and has bipolar mood disorder himself.
