Emma Skalicky is a Hobart-based theatre-maker who has been acting and writing for the stage since 2014. She recently completed a Double Bachelor of Arts and Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania (UTAS). Alongside studying, Emma has worked in approximately 20 theatrical productions across the community and professional sectors of Tasmanian theatre, and has acted as president of UTAS’s theatre society, PLoT, since 2016. Writing credits include The Havisham Dress, White Swan/ Black Swan (Onefest), and Ophelia: A Decomposition in Two Parts (The Picton Grange Quarterly Review, Issue 6). In 2019 her upcoming projects include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Directions Theatre) and a new adaptation of Picnic at Hanging Rock (Bad Company). Emma is currently undertaking an honours degree in playwriting, and a critical history of retellings for the stage, which will culminate in a full-length stage play to be completed in 2019.
