1642. Cromwell opposes Charles1 for control of Parliament. The conflict leads to Civil War, which Cromwell relishes. Charles is devious and manipulates both sides.

Following the war Charles is brought to trial for treason. He maintains that he is answerable only to God, but he is found guilty and subsequently beheaded.
