The Silver Lining is a transformation of the myth of Midas. Using four distinct styles of theatre - classical Greek theatre, Realism, Expressionism and musical theatre - the story is told four different times. The variant tellings resonate with one another adding nuance to the narrative, detail to the thematic concerns, and variety to the staging. Additionally the tale is reimagined with Midas as a Queen trying to maintain hold on the throne after her husband's death. It thus becomes an exploration of the role of women in society as much as it explores the inherent themes in the tale itself: the things we wish for, the things we regret, the prices we pay, and the very occasional opportunities we have to restore what is lost.
A copy of the Original Cast Recording of the final musical scene and backing track without vocals can be provided on request.
