Three men meet in a pub. Former acquaintances, they have been invited to a type of reunion by a fourth man they all know. As they wait for the fourth man to arrive the other three reflect on their lives, loves and losses. Mostly they talk about what it means to be a man in modern times, during their childhoods, school years and in their relationships. The men recall the influences of their fathers and friends and the effects of bullying, conformity and their working lives. All have suffered retrenchments as they approach their fiftieth birthdays. With the arrival of the fourth man the play moves into darker and more complex realms.
