Anzac Day on the Savage family farm – a day considered the lowlight for everyone except bullying patriarch and Vietnam veteran, Ron Savage and his careworn wife, Mary.
Just out of rehab, Cassie returns for the annual reunion to find her older sisters’ lives unchanged: Angel still clings to the wreck of their family home, and Devina still plays at being happily married in Melbourne.
Abused as a child by one of her father's employees, Cassie uses drugs, alcohol, and a vicious wit to cope with the family's ensuing silence.
Over the course of the weekend the family slides into its usual games of anger, alcoholism, suppressed guilt and dark humour. But this time a discovery about a monstrous betrayal sends Cassie into a spiral, with tragic consequences.
This is a darkly funny play about family dysfunction, enmeshment, and the sustaining power of love.
