Lauren and Kyle re-count the highlights of their life together, until an unexpected event in the form of a 'one-punch' attack de-rails their plans for the future.
This two-hander investigates societal response/s to this specific type of violence in Australia, as well as the deep impacts on the families and friends of those involved.
At the core of the play are the long-lasting and or permanent range of ramifications on those closest to the event, from both victim and perpetrator perspectives, some of which are not in the public forum when these terrible incidents occur.

EXTRACT: It’s a blur, really. It’s… hard to… I get… snippets of memory… It happened that night… the night we started… trying… Afterward, Kyle went out. To City Lane… for a… a catchup with Simon. I got a… call. From the hospital. Kyle was hit - on the temple - once - punched - outside McDonald’s… on the... ah… Strand. Knocked out - unconscious.

EXTRACT: So, anyway, we get to the end of the night, right, after this awful dinner, and Simon’s girlfriend at the time, I forget her name now… Michelle, I think, or maybe Amanda...? Anyway, Simon’s girlfriend and her friend, my date, were already at the car, you know, because this girl really wanted to go home. I mean she really didn’t want anything to do with me. I was her first ever blind date and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’d hard-wired her against it for life.
