Emily Sheehan

Emily Sheehan is a playwright and dramaturg. Emily completed her Masters in Playwriting at the Victoria College of Arts (VCA) in 2015 and her Bachelor of Arts (Acting) in 2011. Her plays include Hell’s Canyon (Old 505 Theatre 2018, La Mama Theatre 2018, & Regional Arts Victoria 2021), Daisy Moon Was Born This Way (The Joan 2017, Jopuka Productions 2020, Western Plains Cultural Centre 2021 and Gasworks Arts Park 2021), versions of us (Canberra Youth Theatre 2017) and Faster (Canberra Youth Theatre 2018). Emily is currently a resident Ink playwright at Red Stitch Actors' Theatre.

Emily’s plays have been developed through Melbourne Theatre Company’s Cybec Electric season, Playwriting Australia’s National Play Festival, Playwriting Australia’s National Script Workshops, and ATYP Fresh Ink. Awards include the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award (Winner), Patrick White Playwrights Award (Shortlist) and Melbourne Fringe Award (Winner). Emily has been a participant of the Melbourne Theatre Company Women in Theatre Program, Malthouse Theatre Vanguard and the Playwriting Australia Dramaturgy Internships.

As a teaching artist, Emily has worked with companies including Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), Australian Theatre for Young People, Regional Arts Victoria, Canberra Youth Theatre, Parramatta Riverside Theatre and Hothouse Theatre Company.
