Kate Macdessi began her career as a high school English teacher before pursuing playwriting and creative nonfiction. Her short play, The Political Bachelorette won the Best Play in the Wildcard final of the Short and Sweet Festival and her musical The Wild Ride was performed at PLC Sydney to great acclaim. She has just completed her second musical and is currently studying a Masters of Creative Writing at UTS Sydney.
