Trudy Hellier

Trudy Hellier won an AFI for her first short film script Break and Enter and her feature scripts have received support from Film Victoria and Screen Australia. Trudy wrote four episodes of Lowdown (ABC TV,) and won the 2013 narrative comedy AWGIE for One Fine Gay, (co-written with Amanda Brotchie and Adam Zwar) they also received an AACTA nomination for the same work. Trudy won the RE Ross Trust Award for her play Waking Up Dead, recently produced in a sell out season at Fortyfivedownstairs. She received a 2015 Victorian Greenroom nomination for the same work, scheduled to tour in 2016. The Furies co-written with Elise McCredie, (developed through MTC, funded by Australia Council) premiered off Broadway in New York in 2006. Her play Trapped was recorded for Radio National, funded as a long form short through Screen Australia, travelled to numerous international festivals and won the audience award at St Kilda Film Festival. Her most recent short, Foul Play screened at the prestigious Clermont Ferrand Film Festival. Film Victoria recently funded development for her comedy series Little Acorns and Screen Australia has commissioned a web series due filmed to be in march 2016.

Trudy originally studied acting and has worked extensively, appearing in over forty productions, including regular roles in series such as Frontline, Round the Twist, the ABC’s Letters From a War and Fred Schepsi’s feature Eye of the Storm and most recently Dr Blake.
