Gareth Ellis

Gareth Ellis is a 27-year-old writer/performer. Since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2002, Gareth has written more than 20 plays. His first full length play 'A Protest', which he wrote at age 19, was performed in 2002, and his third play, 'The Champion Male', in 2005. Both plays were produced by On A Mat Appear Theatre Company. Later that year his plays 'Blood Moon' and 'Stealing Time with Mrs Thompson' were produced as performed readings by Verve Studios for the New Voices Project.

Gareth has performed in 'Non Parlo Di Salo' with Melbourne Workers' Theatre, 'Rainbow's End' with Illbijerri Theatre Company, 'Caresses' with Vicious Fish Theatre Company and 'Inheritance' with Melbourne Theatre Company, as well as recording a radio version for ABC Radio National. The original draft of 'A View of Concrete' won the 2004 Wal Cherry Award and had a subsequent public
reading at the Victorian Arts Centre in 2005. It was produced and performed by the Malthouse Theatre in 2006.
