Sasha Janowicz

Stanislaw Janowicz (Sasha) was born and brought up in Minsk, Belarus. He has a Master of Arts in English literature (Silesian University, Katowice, Poland, 1996), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Acting (University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, 2004). His career as an actor started in 1985 at the Minsk Theatre of Fashion. Throughout the 90s he performed as both a solo artist and as a member of a number of musical formations in Polish theatres, as well as working as a tertiary and secondary education tutor. In 2000 Sasha arrived to Australia to complete formal acting training at the USQ. Since his completion of studies, he has performed with a number of theatre companies in Queensland and overseas, including Queensland Theatre Company, La Boite, Classic Players in Brisbane and Wybrzeze Academic Theatre Company in Gdansk, Poland.

He also writes and records for a rock formation Hesperus Dimension, which will have their second CD release in February 2008. Sasha wrote as a journalist for Moje Miasto newspaper in Slupsk, Poland. He translated and produced public readings of a number of Russian and Polish language plays including 'Anthon Magneto - The First Encounter: A Harmful Death' by Oskar Piotr Martin, 'The Last Night Of The Last Tsar' by Edvard Radzinsky and 'The Seagull' by Boris Akunin. 'The Kursk' has been a lengthy project, spanning almost 7 years of research, development and production.
