Sean Mee began his professional career at La Boite Theatre in 1976 as a teacher/actor in the Early Childhood Drama Project, a Theatre-in-Education team for infants. From 1981 - 1985, he was a member of the Acting Ensemble of TN! Theatre Company. Sean also directed for TN! including the world premiere of Summerland by Janis Balodis. He was Artistic Coordinator of TN!2 (1986 - 1990), a training ensemble that devised and toured productions to remote Queensland communities. From 1990 - 1998, Sean taught within the QUT Academy of the Arts as an Associate Lecturer in Acting and Direction.
From October 2000 to 2008, Sean was Artistic Director of La Boite Theatre Company. During his tenure, the Company moved from the Hale Street venue to the new purpose-built Roundhouse Theatre at the QUT Creative Industries Precinct, Kelvin Grove. In August 2009, he took up a position as a Lecturer in Drama within the creative Industries Faculty QUT.
Throughout his career, Sean has pursued his passion for creating and producing Australian theatre with a particular emphasis on the development and presentation of New Works that speak directly to our shared history and the lived experience of the communities in which they are performed.
