Alaine Beek

FOUNDER, PLAYWRIGHT AND PRODUCER
Alaine has been running her production company ‘Essence Productions’ since 2003 which involves a team of actors and backstage crew who collaborate with Alaine to write, create, develop original Australian work. She has written and produced What Was That? and Down to Earth plus award winning Point of No Return (published by Australian Plays; toured 2016, 2018 and 2019), The Scrunch Test (2020 premier season postponed due to Covid), A Good Coffee (won script and production awards at Arkfest 2020) and Benedict III (won production award 2020 VDL monologue competition).

WERRIBEE PARK
Since 2003, Alaine has had a theatrical residency at Werribee Park and each weekend Alaine and her team perform in her two original shows at Werribee Park (What Was That and Down to Earth). The shows attract audiences from all over Australia and overseas. Alaine selects and trains local youth to work as backstage for the company.

WERRIBEE SECONDARY COLLEGE DRAMA CLUB
Since 2014 Alaine has run the after-hours Drama Club directing their full productions, creating fun and confidence building exercises, writing and creating self-devised plays.

WYNDHAM THEATRE COMPANY
Since 2009, Alaine has been the professional partner of the Wyndham Theatre Company. She assists with direction, mentoring, company strategy, committee meetings.

MUSIC
Alaine performed with her trio Lighthouse (Lachlan McLeod and Robert Sedky) as lead vocalist from 2003 – 2015 performing live and writing much of their own songs.
