Cheryl Ward is a trained actor with extensive stage experience. She studied in Los Angeles at Stella Adler Academy West (1994-5) and in London at RADA (Acting Shakespeare, 2008). She has performed in over 30 stage shows including Top Girls, Dancing at Lughnasa, Richard III and Cosi at New Theatre and A Couple of Poor Polish-Speaking Romanians at King St Theatre. In 2008 she played Queen Lear (adapted from King Lear) directed by Brian Stirner at the Jerwood Vanburgh Theatre, London. She has featured in numerous TV commercials and TV shows, with feature film appearances in Moulin Rouge! and The Quiet American.
Cheryl’s first play Through These Lines is based on the letters and diaries of Australian army nurses serving in WWI. She tracked their stories from Australian archives to the Greek island of Lemnos and the locations of hospitals and casualty clearing stations on the Western Front. Her then and now photographs were exhibited at the State Library of NSW. The play was performed in 2010 and 2014 at site specific venues in Sydney and regional NSW, with a two week residency at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre in 2015 where it also featured in Liverpool Council’s Anzac Day centenary and the Greek Festival of Sydney.
Cheryl is a passionate supporter of women’s stories. She has three plays in development.
