JENNIFER WRIGHT

Jennifer Wright

Jennifer has taught Drama in high-schools since 2000 and enjoy the challenge of creating contemporary theatre with teenagers and for teenagers. Jennifer directed several theatre pieces including a stage version of 'Looking for Alibrandi', 'Lockie Leonard Human Torpedo' and 'Hating Alison Ashley'. In recent years she has started writing her own plays to direct and produce in order to capture issues and themes of particular relevance to the teenagers she work with. Jennifer enjoys challenging teenagers to think and explore themes and issues through the safe environment of performance where they have the opportunity to tackle situations outside of their own experience, or sometimes close to their own reality, in a variety of ways. Having the opportunity to see how easily things can go wrong if choices are not thought through is enlightening for teenagers and exploring ways to respond to the struggles faced by their peers can provide real life learning opportunities. 'Behind the Drums' is the second stage play she has developed.

BEHIND THE DRUMS by Jennifer Wright

We acknowledge that we live and create on unceded lands. We pay our respects to the First Peoples of Australia, and to their elders past, present and future.
