Samantha Hill is a Melbourne-based playwright, performer, librarian and teacher. She studied Creative Arts at the University of Melbourne/ VCA, Screenwriting at RMIT, and has a Masters of Teaching (Primary) from the University of Melbourne. She was the recipient of the inaugural Wheeler Centre Playwright Hot Desk Fellowship for an emerging female playwright, where she developed her youth play, orphan/circus/ghost/blog. In 2016, she was commissioned to write Binary Stars & Best Lives for the Old Fitz Theatre as part of their 'New Fitz' program, and she previously had the youth play, Dancing Dogs, commissioned by the St. Martin’s Youth Ensemble.
Her other plays include Little Moth and the Broken Giants, The Last Days of Bette Davis (A Complete Fabrication), Mr. Subordinate, Good Lucy, and The Lynching of Little Hannah (A Christmas Time-Travelling Adventure Miracle). She has also had work developed at Playwriting Australia’s national conference, the World Interplay playwriting festival, and through the Fresh Ink Emerging Writers Program at ATYP. Samantha has performed regularly in both scripted and devised work with SNAFU Theatre, and is a member of the Boutique Theatre Ensemble.
