Lissa Benyon began her career with Fools Gallery where she was involved in the group-scripting of STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE? and SLEEPING BEAUTY/IT BLEEDS IT SLEEPS. Her first solo play THE WOMEN OF MARCH 1? was produced at Nimrod Downstairs. She wrote THE MARGARINE CONSPIRACY? for the Sydney Theatre Company (1986). PENNIES BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS? was written in 1985 and performed by the Ensemble Theatre Project, Canberra (1986), Flashrat Productions, Melbourne (1987) and the Women's Inter-Art Annexe, New York (1988). THE REAL MATILDA was? written in 1989 for Lynette Curran and performed at Bay Street Theatre. Lissa's television credits include SISTERS IN THE BATHROOM?, and episodes of RELATIVE MERITS and COME IN SPINNER?, adapted with Nick Enright.
