Migrated to Australia from England as a child, raised in a Home for Children. Commonwealth Scholarship enabled University: BA Hons Drama, Dip Ed. Taught for 20 years and was Senior Master English. Have been a Farmhand, Underground Miner, Deckhand. Founding Editor of Indigenous Publisher Magabala Books, working in Broome 10 years as publisher with authors from all over Australia. Edited books that won Premier's Awards and Eve Pownall Children's Book Award. 10 years as Film Fixer, Location Manager, nominated for US Emmy Award for Dramatic Reconstruction. Two Tom Collins National Poetry Awards, two Donald Stuart National Short Story Awards, Thomas Wardle Prize for a New Musical Theatre Work, West Australia. Dramaturg on Bran Nue Dae Indigenous musical, working with Jimmy Chi. I scripted the cabaret version of Bran Nue Dae which played 6 years and toured Australia into the Pacific. Actor, singer, song writer and director.
