Rory Godbold

Rory Godbold is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) where he completed the Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Acting). He also has a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Theatre Studies and Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne. As a writer, Rory’s work focuses on the personal within the political. Rory’s debut play When The Light Leaves was nominated for Best Writing Independent Theatre at the 2020 Greenroom Awards. As an actor Rory has performed in S_T_I_G_M_A for the Midsumma Festival at La Mama Courthouse, played Jack/Ernest in The Importance of Being Earnest with Citizen Theatre and toured nationally as an Understudy on Horrible Histories - Awful Egyptians with Andrew Kay and Associates. He also performed a reading of the new Australian play The Death of Kings at the MTC Lawler Studio. Roles at the VCA included City Man in Eddie Goes to Poetry City by Richard Foreman, Antonio in Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Roy Childs in Patrick White’s The Season at Sarsaparilla and the Archduchess/Archduke in Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando.
