Melinda began her creative career in advertising and design, after which she shifted into the computer games industry, working as a pre-production illustrator, environment artist and level designer (Atari, Melbourne House) for several game titles for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
From her broad creative and commercial background, Melinda learned the role of meaningful, compelling characters across various artforms, and soon began her passion for writing and storytelling.
A sea change brought Melinda to the Surf Coast, Victoria, where the highly creative culture in the surrounding regions introduced her to performance making. With her dance background, she ventured into acting, directing, and choreography as well as multimedia for various productions. She has worked with Back To Back Theatre, Blink Dance Theatre and Anglesea Performing Arts, among others.
It was not long before she developed a keen interest in writing for performance. Melinda has written three plays, two of which have been produced and entered into the Anglesea One-Act Play Festival. Her debut comedy Just Far Enough placed third for Best Overall Production in 2016, and her dark drama Whatever Comes Their Way won Best Production and Best Original Script in 2017.
