Cassandra is an award winning Greek-Cypriot Australian writer and playwright, based in Melbourne. She is a former invited playwright of two curated seasons at La Mama, (Platform 2015 and The Ribcage Collective 2016). She was shortlisted for the Max Afford Playwrights Award in 2016 for her play Loose Teeth, and was long listed for the Richell Prize for Emerging Writers in 2018. In 2021 her short story Deep Water Strong Currents was a fiction winner of the Ultimo Prize and will be published in an anthology by Ultimo Press.
In 2015, after being selected for Platform’s curated season at La Mama, her play Like Breathing was reviewed as a “poetic owed to love” (The Age) and part of several site-specific works within Platform Youth Theatre’s season, the highest sold season in La Mama's history. She then debuted the play Limerence, for a sold-out run at La Mama and co-wrote Goblins for the Panopticon Collective. In 2016, her play 44 Degrees debuted as part of the Ribcage Collective’s site-specific curated season at La Mama.
Her play Loose Teeth debuted to sell-out audiences at La Mama in 2017 in Explorations. In 2017 she wrote and directed The Last Journalist on Earth for Gasworks Theatre. In 2018 her play λουλοÏδι/ Bloom was selected and shown as part of the Play6 festival at Gasworks.
Cassandra is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, where she studied Media and Communications.
