Chris is one of Australia's leading contemporary theatre directors and creative producers, with experience working professionally in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. He has worked as a director on over 50 productions during the past 15 years. He is currently CEO and Director of Critical Stages Touring. He was previously Artistic Director of Deckchair Theatre in Fremantle (2008-2012) and Artistic Director of Theatre @ Risk in Melbourne (2001-2007). He has won the WA Equity Award for Best Director in both 2009 and 2011, and was nominated for a Green Room Award for Outstanding direction in 2001. He was a Resident Director at Melbourne Theatre Company (2002-2006). He has been awarded the Queen's Trust Australia and Foundation for Young Australians Centenary Grant (2001) and the George Fairfax Memorial Award for Theatre (2003),
As a Creative Producer, he has produced dozens of national touring productions across Australia, visiting festivals and performing arts centres large and small in over 100 different towns and cities around the country, to New Zealand and China. He has been MC for the annual national Performing Arts Exchange (PAC Australia) in 2017 & 2018, and speaks regularly at performing arts markets and conferences around Australia.
