Shane  Woon

Shane Woon is a Naarm based Chinese-Malaysian writer, Shane graduated from Masters of Theatre (Writing) from VCA in 2024. Since then he has written and produced two plays, A Guide To Being Immortal (New Writers Award, Melbourne Fringe 2025) and Rabbit & Watson (Darebin Speakeasy. 2026). He has also presented work with Slanted Theatre: Feng Shui Secrets (Serpent Secrets, National Theatre of Parramatta, 2025) and Assam Laksa (Slanted Scribbles, Darebin Scratch, 2026). Shane’s writing draws inspiration from Chinese mythology, issues affecting young people, migration stories and queer stories. He is an active contributor to theatre education in Victoria through teaching and consulting with arts organisations. Shane’s motivation to write plays and work in theatre education is to amplify the experiences and stories of Australia's multicultural identities.
