Linda Stainton

Linda has been a writer and actress in television, theatre and cabaret for over 30 years since completing a BA in Visual Arts, Children's Literature & Drama at Flinders Uni followed by the Q Theatre Intensive Acting Course. For the past twenty years she has worked as a screenwriter, script editor and storyliner for TV drama including Breakers, Home and Away and Neighbours and childrens’ television (Jay’s Jungle, Magical Tales, Larry the Lawnmower) winning an AWGIE for Best Script for TV Serial.

Her plays have been produced by Belvoir Street Theatre, Q Theatre, the Old Nick Theatre (Tas), Three Stage Theatre, the University of Tasmania and the Melbourne Comedy Festival. In addition she has written and performed cabaret for the Tilbury, Clarendon and Harold Park Hotels, and Café de Lane. Linda has worked as a writer, actor and drama tutor with the Q Theatre, New England Theatre Co. and Self-Raising Theatre.

In 1985 she helped create the On Cue Pub Theatre co. and was a member of the steering committee as well as a co-writer and actor for 2 years. In 2001 she co-founded the Acting Factory Inc. and was secretary for 3 years before serving as president in 2004 until 2007.

Currently Linda continues her freelance writing as a regular scriptwriter on Neighbours.
