Alexandra Collier

Alexandra is playwright who has worked in the US at The Public Theater, Playwrights Horizons, Berkeley Rep, New Group, Women’s Project, New Georges and in Australia at Sydney Theatre Company and La Mama. Recent work includes Triplight, an indie rock musical presented by Joe’s Pub (The Public Theater), written with composer Greta Gertler-Gold; Together, a new play with songs, workshopped at Berkeley Rep's Ground Floor and Playwrights Horizons, with music by Heather Christian; Underland (Off Broadway, 59E59, terraNOVA Collective); Take Me Home (a mobile theatre piece in a New York city taxi, Incubator Arts Project, Other Forces Festival); We Play for the Gods (Off Broadway, Women’s Project, Cherry Lane) and Holy Day (Susan Smith Blackburn Prize Finalist and Kilroys List). Alexandra performed in the premiere of Still Waiting (La Mama, Melbourne), which subsequently toured to the Adelaide Fringe Festival and was awarded the RE Ross Trust Playwrights Award. Her play Underland is published through Playlab Indie.

Awards/fellowships: Hot Desk Fellowship at the Wheeler Centre, Melbourne; UCROSS Foundation Fellowship, Wyoming; SPACE on Ryder Farm residency and Rhinebeck Writer’s Retreat, NY; MacDowell Fellowship, New Hampshire; and the Dame Joan Sutherland Award (Australian-American Association).
