Peter Houghton

Peter is an actor, director and playwright based in Melbourne. He has received Green Room awards for best actor in a play for his performance in The Pitch and most recently for Samuel Beckett's Endgame which he performed for the Melbourne Festival and revived last year for the Beckett Festival in Northern Ireland.

He won best playwright for his writing of The Pitch as well as an award for his contribution as a director to Melbourne Theatre. His plays The Pitch and The China Incident were both Age and Herald Sun picks of the year. His plays have been performed by Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse, Queensland Theatre Company, Black Swan State Theatre Company and in several national touring productions.

A Commercial Farce was produced by Malthouse Theatre and The Colours by Melbourne Theatre Company. He has appeared in several iconic Australian film and television productions, most recently Howzat and Gallipoli for the Nine Network and Fred Schepisi's The Eye Of The Storm. He directed the world premieres of Joanna Murray-Smith's last two plays True Minds for Melbourne Theatre Company and Day One a Hotel Evening for Black Swan State Theatre Company.
