Christopher Bryant is a Griffin Award nominated playwright (Home Invasion, 2015), performer, and NIDA graduate (Master of Fine Arts (Writing for Performance), 2014). He has worked with a range of companies including fortyfivedownstairs, Malthouse Theatre, the State Library of Victoria, ATYP, MKA, Apocalypse Theatre, La Mama, and the Emerging Writer's Festival.
Recent work includes his "dark, expressionistic thriller" The Mutant Man (British Theatre Guide), which was shortlisted for the 2014 Philip Parsons Fellowship and the 2015 Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation’s Playwriting Competition, and his "talented and thoughtful" play Intoxication (Myron My, 2016), which played to sold out audiences in the 2016 Midsumma Festival before touring Australia in 2017. In 2018 he’s been mentored by Nicola Gunn, Amelia Roper, and had three productions across Australia: the “incisively original” Sneakyville at fortyfivedownstairs (Stage Whispers), his “coup of pop culture [and] social satire” Home Invasion (The Buzz from Sydney), and the continued tour of his “daring experiment in audience unease”, Intoxication (Glam Adelaide).
He’s been published by Playlab, Australian Plays, and Hello Mr. Magazine, and teaches with Monash University, where he’s studying his Ph.D. under the supervision of Jane Montgomery Griffiths.
