CAROLYN STUART

Carolyn Stuart

Carolyn studied Drama and English Literature at Otago University, Dunedin, NZ. She migrated to Australia in 1999. Her hair is still trying to cope with the heat.

Her plays have won a variety of awards including the People’s Choice Award at Armidale’s Favourite Shorts in 2010 (Love and Lycra), joint winner for the Macintyre Writers in 2009 (Keeping Mum) and runner-up in the 2010 Dogwood Initiative – Australia’s richest radioplay competition (Duffers). Publications include Little Gems 2013 - An Anthology of Short Plays (Folly) and Eleven Little Gems - A Collection of 10 Minute Plays 2011 (Grass Roots). Carolyn has written extensively for youth theatre, drawing on her experience and understanding as head of Drama at a vibrant secondary school in Queensland. Carolyn is quietly obsessed with comedy and its ability to dismiss pretense. She is a member of Playlab and ICWP (International Centre for Women Playwrights).

We acknowledge that we live and create on unceded lands. We pay our respects to the First Peoples of Australia, and to their elders past, present and future.
