Henry Melville (1799 – 1873) was a journalist, publisher and playwright living in Hobart, Australia. In March 1830 he bought the Colonial Times and later the same year he published Australia’s the first novel, Henery Savery’s Quintus Servinton. Continuing his publishing endeavors, Henry began Australia’s first monthly magazine dedicated to literature in 1833. A regular contributor himself, Henry’s play The Bushrangers was included in the publication in 1834.
