LACHLAN PHILPOTT

Lachlan Philpott

Lachlan has created an extensive body of texts that provoke people to listen and challenge the perspectives through which we see and remember. He writes to bear witness to the small details, big questions, contradictions and vanishing integrities so common in these times. His plays for young audiences have been widely performed and awarded. He has also collaborated with Dr Alyson Campbell for over 20 years under the banner wreckedALLprods in work documenting the evolving lives of his queer family. Lachlan initiated Australian Theatre for Young People’s Emerging Writers’ Program and his teaching and mentorship have nurtured many young writers in theatre companies, schools and universities in Australia and internationally. He was Artistic Director/ CEO of Playwriting Australia and Tantrum. He has been in residence at La Comedie Francaise, Kansas State University, The American Conservatory Theatre, Griffin, The Playwrights Foundation, Red Stitch and The Traverse. Chair of the AWG playwrights committee (2012-2015), Lachlan was the inaugural Australian Professional Playwright Fulbright Scholar.

Lachlan's plays are also available through Bloomsbury.

We acknowledge that we live and create on unceded lands. We pay our respects to the First Peoples of Australia, and to their elders past, present and future.
