FELIX NOBIS is a poet, playwright, and actor. He was playwright-in-residence with the Q Theatre (Penrith, NSW); and was a member of the Sydney Theatre Company’s Fresh Ink program and Melbourne Theatre Company’s Affiliate Writers’ program. He is currently a lecturer with the Centre for Theatre and Performance at Monash University.
As a poet and performer, Felix has toured his translation of the medieval epic poem, Beowulf, as a one-person show throughout the US and Europe. He also adapted and narrated the translation for ABC Radio National’s Poetica program. His one-person poetical narrative, Once Upon a Barstool, was commissioned by An Chomhairle EalaÃon (Arts Council of Ireland). It premiered in Cork, Ireland before enjoying a successful season at La Mama Theatre and a tour of regional Victoria in 2009.
Felix has worked extensively with ABC Radio National as a performer and occasional producer. He has worked with ABC TV as an actor in series such as Janus and MDA. In 2014 a selection of his poetry was recorded and CD-released as a volume of Going Down Swinging’s One Night Wonders series.
