ALMOST FACE TO FACE

$5.40$15.00

Written during an Australia Council Irish Literature Residency, Almost Face To Face takes a risky journey into a hidden Dublin world. Moving, brutal, dark and funny, this acclaimed work about indulgent creative chaos and lives on-the-very-edge, asks – is it ever too late to finally face up to what you have become?

EXTRACT: I need to establish some kind of routine when I write, and I’m writing again, now, properly, at long last. When I am locked into a ridiculous ongoing drinking bender (like the Paris thing) I have some great ideas, but I don’t write - not properly. I slide around from one chaotic situation to the other… record seemingly outstanding flashes of the bender in shaky stream of consciousness note form - one moment; and wallow in devastating mind blanks and sleazy drunken hook ups, the next.

REVIEW: ALMOST FACE TO FACE

SOPHIE GILLFEATHER-SPETERE, ARTS HUB, 24 SEPTEMBER 2015

"At times pithy and aggressive, at others brimming with a dark humour, the skill of this AWGIE Award winning writer and actor is reflected in a script relishing in the fragility of humanity and the storytelling tradition of Ireland."

REVIEW: ALMOST FACE TO FACE

EMILY RICHARDSON, UPSTAGED REVIEWS, 22 SEPTEMBER 2015

"Living on the cusp of normalcy, sobriety and lawfulness is a precarious place, requiring only the slightest imbalance to tip you over the edge. Stephen House’s play explores the fringe of Dublin society in an intimate encounter with the whores, the dealers and those caught up in the chaos."
