BANTAM, A REAL BOOK BY MICK BROWN & TERRY WHITEBEACH

$5.40$10.00

A woman and her son are writing a book based on his life as an unemployed young man in a small, economically depressed Australian country town. They write the book over the phone and through letters. Their conversation is laconically humorous, casual, easy-going, but they engage with darker issues: despair, rural downturn, unemployment, youth suicide, the intricacies of the mother/son relationship. Their conversation is interspersed with readings of the completed book, Bantam, which introduces a sense of celebration and hope. (Variable cast size. Can use more or fewer.)
