A heavily ritualised performance piece in the non-naturalistic/experimental style, using space, voice, movement, light and sound to explore dynamics and power relationships in a hostage situation. The piece dissects a single point in time to explore the action, ideas, history and emotion of that moment. It is playable as one long narrative piece (90 min) or as separate sequences (10-30 min) for exploring acting and stagecraft.
"A good play for young actors. It does not involve in-depth character analysis and development, but it does involve analysis of ideas and theatrical forms, requiring flexibility, creativity and discipline." Cathie Clelland, Theatre Studies Dept, ANU.
