Swansong is a companion piece to Soliloquy. It features 8 monologues by a variety of characters that meet in a final scene and are revealed to be related. The characters are Clive, an art dealer who has been injured in a fire; Swannie – an old woman who sells the football record magazine at games played by the Sydney Swans; a young beauty pageant queen who is disfigured in an horrific incident; a young man in great debt who is contemplating suicide; a retired ballerina; a retiring birdlife carer; a racist and a rebellious schoolgirl protesting on her Muslim friend’s behalf. They meet at the deathbed of one of the characters to find they will inherit a lot of money if they each perform a deed that is totally out of character.
