THE BALLAD OF RACHEL CORRIE

$15.00

In April 2003 an Israeli bulldozer killed Rachel Corrie, an American student pacifist, as she was protesting the demolition of a house in the Rafah refugee camp in Gaza, Palestine. In the play, which is based on this true story, the daughters of the two families, the Corries of Olympia, Washington State, and the Cohens of Tel Aviv, Israel, become tragically intertwined when the Israeli girl is called up to reserve duty and given the task of driving a bulldozer.

EXTRACT: I slept on the floor next to the youngest daughter, and we all shared blankets. when I woke up they were watching Gummy Bears dubbed into Arabic. So I ate breakfast with them and sat there and just enjoyed being in this big puddle of blankets watching what for me seemed like Saturday morning cartoons / Sometimes I just feel sick to the stomach from being doted on all the time, very sweetly, by people who are facing doom.
