THE DEAD TWIN

$5.40$15.00

Steve is a young man with a bright future. He is floating, listless, sometimes detached from reality. When Steve meets Lola, he develops the ability to contact his long dead twin. His parents, Howard and Barbara, have a pact not to talk about Steve’s twin, who died during war. But each of them dreams of encountering him. The past comes back and wants you to re-enter the horror….

Chi Vu's The Dead Twin draws on writings about postmemory to explore repressed cultural and linguistic identity through the popular genre of horror. The narrative of The Dead Twin can be experienced as an allegory for inherited trauma or as a performance work with a supernatural twist.

EXTRACT: Let me tell you how black it was down there. Stuck in my hole all these years. Away from you, with nothing to do but watch. I yearned to die. But death never came. So I had to think my thoughts all day, every single day. My thoughts made me sad, Steve. They went around and around, chasing their own tails. So, I told myself–When I escape, I will sniff every woman, sniff the scent that leaks from them. When I escape, I will rip these women apart so that I can smell inside them. That’s a nasty thought.
