The Precious Woman

LOUIS NOWRA pursues his concern with the mechanics of power and the ways convention protects the privileged from human nature in this compelling play. In The Precious Woman, the child-like Su-Ling, wife of a warrior governor in 1920s China, is roughly awakened to strength and destruction by her mentors and learns there is no place for compassion in the execution of social change.
