Join Del and Stan, two Aussie battlers, in their Winnebago, as their ultimate Australian adventure draws to an unexpected end.
On the road they’ve faced the Big Pumpkin in Beaudesert, the Big Prawn in Ballina, the Big Chicken in Moonbi, the Big Snake in Ayr, the Big Beer Bottle and Big Shell in Tewantin, the Big Pineapple in Gympie and Nambour. Not to mention the Big Bull in Rockhampton and the Big Avocado at Tropical Fruit World in Tweed Heads. Now they must face the big things in their own lives.
Del loves to talk – about everything – but she’s getting frustrated with Stan’s silence.
These two grey nomads, from the silent generation, face not only the daily challenges of being on the road – lost keys, fold away chairs, a mobile phone and portable barbeque but also the overwhelming effects of battling dementia.
Ian Brown’s play is a tender, amusing and bittersweet portrayal of an ailing marriage where the vows “To have and to hold, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health while we both shall live” can never be abandoned.
