The German-Jewish cultural philosopher, Walter Benjamin, was 48 years old when he took his life in 1941 by overdosing on morphine tablets. Fleeing occupied Paris, his attempt to emigrate to New York was thwarted at the Franco-Spanish border, where he was denied entry into Spain. The Art of Straying takes place on the night of Benjamin's suicide, although temporally and spatially we move through the advent of radio period and many other significant moments of his life in reverie, remembrance and hallucination.
