EXTRACT: She hasn’t closed the bedroom door and the draft from the hall goosebumps my skin. I can feel my nipples pucker and my shoulders roll in. The weight of the pad in my knickers makes them slide off my hips before she’s ready. There is a heavy, damp sound. A smell catches in our throats. I try to apologise. She doesn’t see me try. She pulls the pad off and puts it into a plastic bag. She ties several knots. She puts it into a second bag. More knots. The smell is still here.
