These Education Resources have been created to support busy teachers in bringing Australian plays to life in the classroom. Whether the script is a familiar favourite or a new discovery, each resource is designed to help you explore the text with confidence.

The Monologue Collection

APT’s Monologue Collection highlights some of the most compelling Australian playwriting for solo performers and Drama students. This collection contains a range of monologues from full-length solo works, while others are contained within ensemble plays and may require some crafting on the part of students.

Hear it from the Playwright

A collection of exclusive interviews centres the playwrights of four HSC drama texts, giving insight into their work, process, and ideas. It’s an excellent way to get students curious and engaged about the creative process from idea to script.

Narragunnawali Indigenous Plays Lists

Australian Plays Transform has worked with Narragunnawali to compile this collections of plays written by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander playwrights from the 1970s to right now, combined with suggested additional resources.

Sustainability Collection

This collection is built around the cross-curriculum priority of Sustainability. The collection outlines many recommended scripts for stages Primary through Tertiary, and collates education resources, playwrights’ notes, and other recommendations – all put together with a quick overview of each play for easy scanning.

When you combine some of the freshest plays in the APT catalogue with seminal plays recommended by industry leaders, you’ve got The Pride Collection. It’s a fantastic starting point for teaching and students looking to delve into theatre which includes and celebrates LGBTQ+ stories. The education resources for these works are still growing, so there’ll be more to keep coming back for!

With broad recommendations including First Nations stories, migrant stories, colonial/settler stories, ANZAC stories, and political stories, this collection explores how playwriting captures history- at all stages of education.
