Kelvin Butcher is a South Australian playwright. He graduated from Flinders University with
a BA Hons in Drama and English Literature. Kelvin worked for many years with South
Australian Writers Theatre (SAWT), during which time he became very familiar with the Reading/Workshop/Public Reading process. Kelvin's work includes Sacred Women, Lost Civilisation and notably Digger which was given a Public Reading in The Festival Theatre organised by the State Theatre Company of South Australia; starring Anne Looby and directed by Glen McGillivray. Folly Bridge was produced at Holden Theatre in 2009 by Spotlight Theatre Company; directed by Paula Carter, starring Alan Hendry and Bridget Walters.
