D.M. Cameron

Originally an actress, D.M. Cameron is an AWGIE nominated radio dramatist, award-winning playwright and celebrated short film writer.

She is a graduate of the NIDA playwright’s studio and the author of several produced stage plays, including her critically acclaimed solo work, The Flowering and the award winning The Salt Maiden.

She has had four plays produced by ABC Radio National – Water Tight, The Salt Maiden, Bringing Down the Moon and Shopping for Lifeforms.

A recipient of the Australian Writers Guild/Queensland Theatre Company Mentorship Scheme, she is also a two-time recipient of the Fresh Ground Scheme at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts.

She commenced work on her first novel under a RADF grant and was then selected for a Varuna Litlink residency to further develop the work into what became Beneath the Mother Tree.

Published in 2018, Beneath the Mother Tree was listed as a top Australian fiction read for 2018 by the Adelaide Advertiser and hailed as ‘A masterful evocation of place’ by the Weekend Australian.

Donna is currently working on her second novel.
