George Randolph Bedford was born in Sydney in 1868 and started writing as a journalist in the late 1880s in response to the increased interest in mining.
In the early 1900s Beford wrote two mostly autobiographical novels, which were published in London. Bedford wrote his play, White Australia or The Early North whilst traveling between Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States. It was staged in Melbourne in 1909.
