Suzanne Hauser

Suzanne Hauser is a theatre maker, storyteller, dramaturg and teacher, passionate about the development and production of work by and for young people. Suzanne has written, directed and produced numerous works for young actors, she develops her work with young people, always faithful and respectful to their stories, their concerns and their fascinations.

Suzanne’s plays for young actors are perfect for youth theatre companies, drama classes, schools and youth groups. They are designed to be ensemble works with weighty roles for all performers. Most roles are suitable for actors of any gender identity.

Suzanne has been Creative Producer of Outback Theatre for Young People (2009-11), Artistic Director of Ryde Youth Theatre (2012-20) and Facilitator of Beyond Vision Theatre (2011-12). Under Suzanne’s leadership Ryde Youth Theatre won a City of Ryde Mayor’s Community Award for their work with young people. Suzanne’s play War Poems was shortlisted for the Patrick White Playwright’s Award 2007.

Suzanne holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Iowa, a Bachelor of Science, Theatre from Texas Woman’s University and a Bachelor of Theatre from James Cook University. She is currently a Masters of Research student at the Writing and Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University.
