Danielle is a deviser, director & dramaturg with a passion for collaborative creation. Her first play, Country Matters, won a 2011 Sydney Fringe Award for Excellence and was revived in Women, Power and Culture at the New Theatre that same year. The Sydney Morning Herald described her next play, Say Hello First, as "a quantum leap in the right direction" for the Old Fitz in 2013.
She has a Masters of Advanced Theatre Practice (Distinction) from the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, and a Bachelor of Performance from the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art. Danielle is also the recipient of a residency with the UK Live Art Development Agency and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust Award. She is a member of the Directors' Lab (Melbourne Festival) and has taken part in Playwriting Australia’s Dramaturgy Program.
Danielle has worked in various capacities for Sydney Theatre Company, City of Sydney, Sydney Festival, the Biennale of Sydney, Carriageworks, Hayes Theatre Company, the Old Fitz, Old 505 Theatre, PACT, New Theatre, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Camden People’s Theatre and Hampstead Garden Opera. Currently, Danielle is an Artistic Associate of Sydney Chamber Opera, where she has directed two new works for Breaking Glass, and assisted directors Kip Williams, Adena Jacobs, Janice Muller and Sarah Giles.
Danielle is interested in the intersection between provocation and playfulness, and the search for meaning and authenticity in live performance.
